Whispering Angel - a Refreshing Rosé
On a hot summer evening when I want to relax out on my balcony with a glass in hand, there is a no better wine to quaff than a nicely chilled and crisp rosé from Provence. One of my favourites is the ubiquitous Whispering Angel Rosé and I couldn’t resist buying a bottle recently from a local fine wine store.
The first sip had flavours of strawberry, lemon, rose petals, pink grapefruit, peony and brioche lightly dancing across my mouth. Further sips displayed a touch of tartness and a hint of dried herbs which beautifully balanced this wine and gave it a freshness as well as some complexity. This is not a sweet rosé and the lively acidity kept this wine crisp and whisper light, even when it warmed up.
So quaffable and extremely versatile as it goes with so many foods ranging from salads, quiche, seafood, chicken, pork and even veal. This wine is staying on my go-to list.
